A New Vancouver Island Record Attempt in 2009

Joe O'Blenis, the former record holder for circumnavigating Vancouver Island in a kayak, is going after the record of 17 days and 4 hours and 49 minutes days set last fall by Sean Morley. Joe is setting his sight on making the trip in 16 days. He's planning to make the attempt in September. Follow his attempt on his Vancouver Island 2009 blog.

  1. Hi John,
I just read your post regarding Vancouver Island as I was looking over the PaddlingPlanet site. Sean Morley's record time last fall was 17 days and 4 hours & 49 minutes to be more exact. My goal is to come in under 17 days, aiming for 16 days.
Sean certainly set the bar high, it will be a tough year coming up for sure. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

    Cheers...Joe O'Blenis

  2. Thanks Joe, I've updated the blog entry to reflect this. Good luck!
