Note the paddler's perfect form in the upper picture: he's used his torso for maximum power in his stroke, and now he's wound up for the return stroke. THAT'S how you get the power to rise up on hydrofoils. It's also why his belly is flat and mine isn't--a tremendous core workout. The best forward stroke isn't about the arms and shoulders, it's about the wind of the torso. Couldn't ask for a better example in a photo.
